MBProbe is a program which monitors voltages, temperatures and fan speeds using hardware monitoring chip(s) available on many modern motherboards. Its features include:
Up to 9 voltage, 4 temperature and 3 fan speed readings (subject to the limitations of hardware monitoring chip(s) present).
Automatic detection of monitoring chips.
Small memory footprint.
Setting of nominal voltage and fan speeds with warning thresholds.
Setting of temperature warning limits and offset readings.
Setting of sensor used for each temperature reading.
Temperature display in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
Customisable task when critical temperature is exceeded for more than 30 seconds continuously.
Ignores fan warnings for 10 seconds after system comes out of suspend.
Swappable temperature display in status icon on taskbar.
Event and history logs.

1.31 beta 9 is out with some more fixes:

AMD 768 SMBus host support.
Voltage dividers for Tyan Tiger MP2460; voltages still incorrect.
Fixed VIA VT8231 voltages; temperatures are still incorrect.
Fixed bug in SMBus word read for ALi SMBus hosts (Asus A7A266).
Workaround for some boards failing to do SMBus word read for LM75s.

FanSpeed is a small free utility designed to run under Windows 95/98/NT/2000 to control the speed of case and CPU fans depending on the temperature readout from the available motherboard thermistors. It is possible to greatly reduce the speed of a CPU fan and still maintain adequate cooling while the CPU is idle, as long as the operating system (i.e. for Linux / NT ) halts the CPU. Windows 9x users would need to run a third party application such as CPUIdle or VhaltD (recommended - it's free and included :) for FanSpeed to have any noticeable effect. The benefit of all this effort should be obvious to most overclocking BP6 users: peace!

FanSpeed is split into a service written by Tim Hughes and a GUI part written by Matthew Palmer. The service runs independently of the GUI and actually performs the task of monitoring temperatures and controlling fans. The GUI connects to the service and provides feedback and a front end for installation, uninstallation and modifying configuration.

Supported Hardware
FanSpeed supports the following hardware monitoring chips.

Winbond W83782D
Winbond W83627HF

FanSpeed has been tested on the following motherboards.

Abit BP6
Abit BP7
QDI Plantinix 4X
