con pc fisso e xp e questi sono i componenti:
S M: Gigabyte Ga-ep31-ds3L
Processore: intel core2 duo E 5200
Ram: Dimm 2048 DDR II 800 (2giga)
HD: Maxtor stm3250310As (Sata2) 250 G
S V: Asus Geforce 210 1Gb (Pci-ex 2.0)

Vorrei aggiungere un'altra dimm da 2 giga, il dubbio e quale modello esattamente dovrei comprare... non vorrei comprare una dimm che non vada d'accordo con quella preesistente.,...

I dati per la ram dovresti trovarli direttamente su quella che hai già armati di lente di ingrandimento e cerca di leggerli, alla peggio ne prendi direttamente 2, ricordati di controllare sul manuale della scheda madre quali memorie supporta.

Se vuoi che abbia speranza di andare in dual channel cerca un banco di RAM identico a quello che possiedi, anche usato.

Ad ogni modo quel PC mi sembra sufficientemente carrozzato per montare un sistema operativo più moderno, XP ormai è piuttosto obsoleto.

Geppetto: ho scritto i dati che conosco della scheda madre... che comprari usata e non ho il manuale... potremo interrogare il pc per saperne di più?

Borgata: su quel pc ho anche ubuntu 16.04, xp è un po' il sistema di riserva.

Xilo: le tre ram che mi indichi sono diverse da quella che ho.. quelle sono larghe circa tre cm, quella che ho è più sottile sarà 1,5cm massimo due...

Aggiungo che la scheda madre ha quattro slot per le ram uno giallo, uno rosso, un'altro giallo e un'altro rosso....

Giusto per fare un po' di chiarezza:
le UDIMM sono le classiche memorie Unbuffered/Unregistered
le RDIMM sono invece quelle Buffered/Registered (tipico uso server)
le FBDIMM sono le Fully Buffered (idem come sopra, per sistemi che fanno ampio uso di memoria)
le SO-DIMM sono le memorie tipicamente da portatile
le Mini-DIMM dovrebbero essere quelle di taglia ancora minore, usate in precedenza con gli ultra portatili (non so se si usino ancora, oggi si tende a saldare tutto =_=' ).
Gli altri non ricordo :p (e se non sbaglio ne manca anche qualcuno in lista, tipo le LRDIMM)

DIMM è la tipologia di memoria (Dual Inline Memory Module, se non ricordo male, ossia che hanno i pin indipendenti su ogni lato a differenza delle vecchie SIMM), di cui quelle sopra sono dei, diciamo, sottotipi.

Nel nostro caso servono le memorie "classiche", senza buffer, taglia normale.
Stabilita la tipologia, quello che bisognerebbe guardare, in ordine di importanza:
- marca e modello: stessa marca e modello è la cosa migliore
- controller: se no troviamo stessa marca e modello, guardiamo almeno che abbiano lo stesso controller, oltre frequenza e timings
- frequenza e timings: se no troviamo stessa marca e modello e non capiamo che controller abbiano, guardiamo almeno che abbiano stessa frequenza e timings
- disposizione dei chip, in particolare se da un lato o da due lati (non è solo una questione estetica, sono sottotipi differenti)
- dimensione: tendenzialmente due tipi: normali e a basso profilo (più basse, solitamente adatte a case con poco spazio)

La cosa antipatica è che ovviamente oggi le DDR2 costano una fortuna. Quindi il mio consiglio è cercare nell'usato, possibilmente un modulo uguale a quello che hai.

È una RAM a basso profilo da 18mm.
L'altezza del profilo non influisce sulla compatibilità delle RAM, sono solo più basse di quelle standard in modo da poter essere montate su macchine in cui c'è a disposizione poco spazio.

In realtà sembra che quelle a basso profilo siano tutte registered/buffered e dedicate ai computer server e non ai semplici desktop.
Quindi le domande diventano:
- Quella che stai usando ora, l'hai recuperata da qualche server?
- Ti ha mai causato problemi (BSOD o congelamenti)?
- Anche se sono dello stesso modello, ma una è registered/buffered mentre l'altra non lo è, sono sempre compatibili?
- Se le risposte alle ultime due domande sono sì e no, vale la pena comprarne una identica nel modello, ma diversa perché non a basso profilo e perché è unregistered?
Oppure comprarne una identica anche nel profilo e nelle caratteristiche, che però non sono sfruttate dalla scheda madre e dal sistema?
Ricorda che cpu-z te la vede come unregistered: in teoria le ram registered dovrebbero avere un costo maggiore delle unregistered, perciò non sembra sensato comprare una ram registered, pagando di più, senza poi sfruttarne le caratteristiche.

Le RAM a basso profilo ci sono di tutti i tipi, sono DDR2 a basso profilo per esempio quelle del PC (normalissimo e vecchiotto) da cui sto scrivendo ora.
Questo hanno un profilo particolarmente basso (18mm) e sono meno comuni.
La scheda madre ad occhio non mi sembra di quelle che supportano memorie ECC (in genere funzionalità tipica delle sole mobo di fascia più alta, ricordiamo che il controller di memoria in questo caso è nella scheda madre, non nella CPU).

Ne ha due disponibili, perciò arriveresti a 4GB, spendendo circa 38 euro, spedizione inclusa.
Quest'ultimo kit è sicuramente compatibile con la scheda madre, però è anche quello che costa di più, seppur usato.
Gli altri due kit non sono stati ufficialmente testati da Gigabyte, ma dovrebbero essere compatibili in base alle caratteristiche.

Il primo della lista è un'asta a 0,01 euro, "rischi" di pagarlo 6 euro. :-)
Mentre il secondo lo hanno tenuto in magazzino per due anni, ma pare non sia mai stato usato: costerebbe 19 euro con la spedizione inclusa.
Altrimenti ti basta cliccare sulla casella "nuovo" a sinistra per eliminare i soli oggetti nuovi, trovando anche quelli usati.
In quest'ultimo caso, ti basta una sola scheda, non due, come nelle proposte precedenti.

Quello a 6€ è un'asta, potrebbe salire più degli altri, o rimanere basso se sei fortunato.

Ad ogni modo oramai le scelte ci sono.
Se vuoi essere sicuro di avere il dual channel, compra due banchi e togli quello che hai ora.
Anche comprando un banco come il tuo dovresti avere ottime possibilità di dual channel.
Valuta tu in base a costi ed esigenze.

Se hai un altro PC dove riciclare il tuo banco di RAM (magari un PC secondario o di un amico con 1GB di RAM che potresti "resuscitare" con quel banco da 2GB), allora l'acquisto di due banchi per il dual channel è la cosa migliore.
Come spesa mi pare di vedere che siamo intorno ai 30 euro.

Ok, allora andiamo per una coppia.. alcuni link che mi ha xilo sono venditori esteri e prima che arriveranno ci vorrà un po'. Per acellerare comprerei in Italia, una coppia così lavoreranno in dual channel...

Io tenterei di aggiudicarmi l'asta, specie se puoi fare l'offerta all'ultimo minuto (le 9:39 di domani) offrendo 10 euro.
Se nessun altro fa offerte, avrai il banco a 6 euro.

Si, mai io con le aste non ci ho mai preso... ogni volta che ho provato non sono riuscito a comprare... scusa Xilo, ma escludendo l'asta e quelle estere, e cercando di lavorare in dual channel.. credo che restano quei due link che ho indicato per una coppia... quali prendere delle due, se poi avete qualche alternativa migliore (sempre a coppia) ben venga... vorrei cercare di comprarle per domani.. ultimi suggerimenti .. grazie...

Le caratteristiche dal sito corsair coincidono con quelle dell'attuale memoria:
- 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 (400 MHz) 1.80 Volt
- Latenza testata/SPD 5-5-5-18
- Non trovo unbuffered/unregistered, ma dovrebbe essere comunque UDIMM.
