I tre processori Core i7 attualmente in giro sono:
-920 e 940 con QPI a 4,8 GBytes / sec
-965 Extreme con QPI 6,4 GBytes / sec
[NB: per chi non lo sapesse, il QPI è il nuovo 'FSB, front side bus', solo che è talmente diverso da meritarsi un nome nuovo, Quick Path Interconnect]
Mi chiedo: di conseguenza il 920 e il 940 potranno usare delle DDR3 ma ad una frequenza massima comunque inferiore a quelle usabili dal 965?
... forse sto dicendo una stupidata pazzesca, ma vorrei sapere i limiti di clock delle DDR3 per entrambi i valori di QPI, grazie...

You're confusing QPI with the IMC ; QPI has no relation whatsoever to the RAM. QPI connects CPUs to other devices ( other CPUs or I/O devices ). GT per second , means just that , gigatransfers per second.Since QPI is 20 bit wide ( 16 data , 4 for RAS ) a transfer is 2 bytes of data , each way.As a result 4.8GTs equals 19.2GBs and 6.4GTs offers 25.6GBs per QPI link.
